Pearly Whites!

...Or, lack therof. When we lived in Boise, Chase fell at Costco, and hit his tooth on the ground. It died :( They told us that we could just leave it in until his permanent teeth came in. Well, It abcessed, so they had to pull it. The dentist said that his permanent teeth won't come in for another year, so here's my little hillbilly...

I'm pretty sure he's gonna get a major boost of self esteem, because when he smiles, you just HAVE to laugh! And he loves nothing more than to make someone laugh:)

Logan has also had some dental changes...

The Braces are OFF! He was so excited. He now has an official over-bite. I guess he won't end up looking like Jay Leno afterall :)

Easter

With all this Easter talk, Carly has been very concerned about Jesus dying. She keeps asking, "Is Jesus still dead?" I tell her that he LIVES in heaven. I don't think she quite understands, becuase at every prayer (including mealtimes), she prays, "please bless that Jesus won't die."

A couple weeks ago I took Carly with me to go get Logan's scriptures, and she saw this picture...

She insists that the little girl in the picture is her. "Look, Jesus is holding my face!" It does kinda look like her...

OUR EASTER STORY...

Here is the MOST DECENT Easter picture I could get with all three kids...

CLEARLY, Logan and Chase aren't losing any sleep over Carly's trauma (while we're being honest, neither am I:))

Here is the only picture I got of Carly NOT crying...

The boys aren't completely off the hook. When I heard the kids running into my bedroom Easter morning, I was expecting a high volume of excitement and enthusiasm, but instead was greeted with these complaints from Logan, "the easter bunny gave us way more stuff last year." "He gave me a game for 4-7 year olds, and I'm 8!" "AND, he gave me silly string that's expired - it probably doesn't even work". Once Carly and Chase heard what Logan had to say, they jumped on the bandwagon too, and I had a bunch of whiney kids moping around - ON EASTER MORNING! Anyway, I told Logan that since he absolutely HATED EVERYTHING, that I would take it all, and followed up with a lecture about the real meaning of Easter.

When he asked for his basket an hour later, I said "NO"! So, when we went outside to take pictures, he asked, "if I'm good for the pictures can I have my easter basket back?". So, there's the story, and the reason for all the smiles! Happy Easter!

Nagol is 8!!!

Logan (Nagol) turned 8 last week and asked for a BACWARDS birthday party. So here's how it

went...
First were the invites. I spent along time typing everything backwards so they would be mirror image, and when I was through, I looked at them in the mirror, and couldn't read a word. Turns out the LETTERS have to be backwards too. I'm such an idiot. Anyway, we decided to write it from the bottom to top instead!
When the kids arrived (some walked in backwards) we told them "good-bye", and "see ya later". Some of them were actually a little confused. I had name tags for all of them with their backwards name, and 8 paperclips attached. His guests were, Naes, Mada, Noskcaj, Notyap, Troc, Mas, Lliw, and Snej.
Anytime someone caught someone else saying a name the "right" way, they got to take one of their paperclips. Whoever had the most paperclips at the end of the party won a prize. WELL THAT'S HOW IT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN. Turns out 8 year olds get pretty defensive when "accused". Yes, there were tears within 2 minutes of the party starting...scratch that game. Onto the next...
Since the cake is usually LAST, we had it FIRST, and UPSIDE DOWN cupcakes - OF COURSE! I printed out the backwards birthday song for the kids to sing: "you to birthday happy, you to birthday happy, logan dear birthday happy, you to birthday happy!"
Then we opened presents. Logan thanked everyone by saying, "you're welcome", and gave each of his guests a big hug - super cute!
Then there was BACKWARS musical chairs. Each round, I removed a chair, but no kid. So, if they couldn't find a chair, they were to find a LAP. By the end of the game, there were 11 kids on one chair. It was just as chaotic as it sounds!

Their dinner was UNDER the table. They had spaghetti and meatballs in cups, and the drink in the bowls. Oh, I almost burned the house down by taking the papa murphy's cheese bread out of the oven, and putting in on a burner that was still on high! The tray is PAPER! Oh well, a party wouldn't be a party without a mishap or two, RIGHT?

We had a treasure hunt where all the clues were written backwards. We played a "How well do you know Nagol" game. A guessing game (how many jelly beans in the jar), where the person farthest wins, etc., etc. It was fun, and EXHAUSTING! I'm so glad the next one isn't until he's 12. Nagol, Birthday, Happy!
