Our trip started with a flight to SAN DIEGO where we went to SEA WORLD straight from the airport. The next day we made our way over to the SAN DIEGO ZOO. The day after that was hangin out at the BEACH. Then it was off to LOS ANGELES to visit UNIVERSAL STUDIOS, then back to ANAHEIM for three days of DISNEYLAND. Here's the play by play...
Airport Adventures
Salt Lake to Vegas to San Diego gave the kids each an opportunity to sit by the window. They were really exctied to fly, and so was I! It's been a while :) Logan (10), Chase (9), and Carly (6) were the pefect ages for this trip. It was so fun to actually hang out instead of "mothering" the whole time.
Sea World Surprises
Carly was the only kid who would touch the dead fish to feed the Sea Lions...go figure!
Next was the Sea Lion show where Logan and Chase were eager to sit in the "SOAK ZONE". They just didn't know that it would be a cast member spraying them with a spray bottle while pretending to clean the hand rail :)
Sharks freak me out...nuf said.
After lunch, two girls in wet suits asked us if we would want to come with them to feed the dolphins! Just our little family. They let the kids feed them and taught them how to make the dolphins to tricks. They also showed us all the birds that fly around in the show. Super cool!...oh, and the boys finally toughened up and touched a dead fish :)
The Dolphin Show
They are ALWAYS fans of the wet rides...me, not so much!
The Killer Whales were the only memorable part for me as a kid, so I was excited to see this. Amazing. Huge. Beautiful. Graceful. Mysterious. LOVE!
Zoo Delights
Since Frank had to work in the San Diego office, just me and the kids hit the San Diego Zoo. Very relaxing. We took the train tour, we rode the sky tram, had lunch, played with the animals, and took a bajillion pictures!
Carly got a camera for christmas. I would dare say she's even more trigger happy than I am. She was most interested in this little squirrel eating popcorn off the sidewalk. It wasn't scared at all!We met Frank after for some dinner at a little diner in downtown Mission Bay called SLIDERS
Hyatt Happenings
The next morning Frank had to work until noon so me and and kids just hung out at the hotel. It was right on the ocean. Fun slides, nice pools, and amazing views. We didn't mind one bit!
We checked out of the hotel and took some lunch over to the Mission Bay Beach to play until Frank got off work. Then we picked him up and headed to Coranado Beach for the real fun!
We looked back and had to jump out of the way when we saw these cute guys thundering down the beach...
After the beach we had dinner at my favorite...THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY, then headed to Anaheim. The next morning...
Universal Studios
The music just took over...she HAD to dance!
The highlight of the day was when Carly was chosen to come help with the Famous Animal Show. She was very brave. First a bird flew over and landed on her head. Then they showed a movie clip of a guy getting pooped all over then told handed her some bird food and asked her to whistle. A bunch of birds flew right into her! She was smiling and laughing the whole time...a great sport :)
Last, but most definately not least...
Disneyland (Day 1)
JEDI TRAINING
Chase has been DYING to be picked for this ever since Logan got to do it three years ago. But as always, they picked Carly instead. She had fun with it, but could barely even open the light saber. Chase could hardly watch! He was SO sad...
Lunch at
Nevermind the fact we spent $25 per sandwich!...it was yummy, and we entertained ourselves while waiting for our food :)
DISNEYLAND (Day 2)
The next morning me and the kids headed to Disneyland without Frank (he had to go into work for a couple hours). We went on a couple rides, and we were walking past the Jedi Training, and we decided to give it one last try. The three kids sat behind the line, and when the time came for volunteers, the three of them started jumping and raising their hands in the air, but instead of volunteering themselves, Carly and Logan were pointing to Chase so they would pick him <3. I have to admit, I was fighting back the tears. So touching to see his sibling routing for him - all three jumping and screaming for Chase. He'll probably remember that forever. Anyway, the chose Chase! Then Carly again...then Logan. All three of them got to do it. They had a blast!
